Does anyone know if the battery in a 2003 XS will start and work in a 2009 X? are they different? I just bought what O'reilly's said my '03 took. But it's broken and my 09 is starting weak in the cold (20° F). Thanks!

What are the cold cranking amps on the battery you bought? That matters a lot generally in colder starting temps.

Have you looked at the post configuration on your 09 and compared it to the batt you bought?
They're both 12 volt...

I believe 540 CCA

Post config would work better in the 09 the new battery for the 03 configuration was opposite to the 03's original battery, I remember having to rooster the new battery in order to connect the positive side

For cold temps, I would be wanting 600 or more Cold Cranking Amps really.

If you go on O'Reilly's site and input the 2009 Forester and the 2003, you'll find they use the same batteries, with post config being the varying factor it seems

Edit: Why on earth are batteries so expensive in the US !?

Thanks, I think it'll work, I looked at the battery I'm the 09 and it has a measley 500 CCA, plus I bet it's over 2-3 years old. Well i'll swap them any how and buy a higher CCA next time. Thanks all!
