2009-2010 FXT Turbo, IC and Tune upgrade?

As the title says, I am looking into upgrading my 2010 FXT and as everybody knows, they come with a 4 Auto transmission which in fact concerns me a little when bumping HP/TQ. I tried to find for the maximum hp/tq the transmission can handle but, not much luck. Also, there are numerous bit here and there where people talk about the 2008 impreza wrx turbo and some other parts that can be transferred and fitted into the 09-10 fxt. With that said, I would like to sort of have an open thread for those individuals thinking about doing the same.

If the transmission can handle near 350whp then that would be a good start however if this cannot be done then by all means I would like to look for other ways to beef up this part in order to handle the power produced.

Bumping an old thread. I think I've got the wife's Foz's suspension nailed down, and have been toying with the idea of a turbo upgrade later this year and would love some new updated info. Perhaps some of you that have gone down this road, post some of your experiences here. What works, what doesn't work, what's interchangeable? It seems the VF52 is a popular swap, but what other injectors, intercoolers, intakes, headers, if any are also interchangeable. I know Nate_Fisher has been down this road, so he may want to chime in for some of us nOObs that are just starting down that path.

Thanks for the link. I did actually see that thread before but when I first opened it, I thought that the info would only apply to SF/SG's. I didn't read through it because I was looking for SH info. I'll check it out if there's SH info inside

It doesnt apply to sh platforms. Pretty much you cant use any sti goodys without alot of work as the turbo and inercooler on our cars is legacy style fitment just like the 08+wrx. The vf52 is the same as the vf48 it just has a differnt flange on it. I run a vf52 with supporting mods and will be happy to answer any questions. I am very pleased with the way my car peformes now and actually very impressed with the 4eat with sport shift (being the first auto ive owned besides winter beater cars).

Thanks for the response Nate. I'll probably follow along the same mod path. So basically WRX turbo, intake, top mount are interchangeable with the '08 WRX, right. I've read the the Sti fuel pump is a moderate bump in flow so that would be adequate for a VF52 upgrade right? Is there any downside or limitiations to getting bigger injectors (say 750cc or 850cc) and only going with a VF52 and a STi fuel pump?

dont waist your time with the sti pump it still doesnt flow for s***. I went with a walbro 255 and modified the housing, got a good deal for $40 new. They make a dw pump that is a direct fit now but its spendy at around $200. Tuned200 is rite there is no reason to do injectors unless your going with e85 ,im running stock injectors at 19.5psi on my vf52 and there only at 90% idc after the pump install. I will be running dw 850cc in the spring and switching to e85.

I actually found a pretty nice deal on a Cobb catted Dp, so that's sitting in my office, waiting for the warranty to expire. Mind you, I'm just planning ahead for later this year when I "get" to touch the motor. This is all going into the wife's '10 XT and back before we bought the car, I made a promise to leave the engine alone, at least until warranty is up. Happy wife = Happy home. :biggrin:

So even with stock injectors and stock pump, it's still pretty safe? So basically the next limiting factor would be the injectors then, or the pump? There's a local selling a STi fuel pump and some injectors for a pretty decent price, so I'm tempted to pick up both just for the extra headroom so as to not max out either. Just trying to build it safely without over working any of the components.

But, at the same time, is it pretty safe to say that an STi fuel pump would only suffice for a VF52 upgrade and not like a 18G or 20G? I'm don't plan to go bigger than a 52, but I can't count how many times I've said that before :icon_redface:

Im almost 100% positive the injectors from FXT/WRX/STI are all the same.

The sti injectors are the same as the xt we have 565cc injectors and are plenty for a vf52. The pump ive heard is the same as well so you dont need that either imo. The pump is the limiting factor so get your self either a dw direct drop in or modify your housing and throw in a walbro to give yourself a little head room. The idc dropped almost 10% after my pump. You dont need bigger injectors unless your going e85 imo.

Hi Karr,

there is a company in sydney who specialise in Subaru and I recently stumbled on their website and ytoutube videos. Looks like they have created packages for the FXT ina sort of level 1 2 3 scenario - what's interesting is you can read and watch this info and take from it what they have obviously spent much R&D on. Looks like their XC kit is as far as you can go reliably which may help you in your decisions. Links below mate.
