2008 Forester OE coilover replacement compatibility question

Hello all,

I am new to the forums as i need to replace the front coilovers on my stock/base 2008 forester. I want to keep it stock as my drive way is a country road that is pretty rough. I read the sticky by Porter and know that i dont want Impreza struts. I would like to keep the OE setup.

I would love to get a set of coilovers from someone that upgraded to something else (offroad, STi, etc) but i would like to know what years/models would be a direct replacement.

Should i stick with only 3rd gen stuff, or will other generations work?
Is there a particular trim level within the 3rd gen that are different from the base model?
