I figure this should work, but I want to be sure. I have brand new KYB GR2's for an '03. '03 was totalled before they went on. Now I have an '06 and these '03's are not the right fitment (springs/struts are different design on '06-). However, I still have '03 and figure I can use springs and top hats from '03 on new struts and replace whole strut assembly on '06. Will this work? Anything I should know about that I will be losing with the older strut design?

Unfortunately I haven't tried this yet. My recollection based on searching was that it could be done. However, it seems there was a helper spring added to the 2006 struts that wouldn't be there on the 2003.

Wow, almost three years...

Well I ended up using those KYB struts with King springs (raised front and rear) and group N tophats. No problems with this setup. Not specific to this fitment, but you need to be careful with alignment of the spring to strut when putting it all back together.
