Hello,

I wonder what is going on. Every 3 days now I have a problem getting the shift from the P position to D or N or others. I push the break pedal hard but that does not help. Only after restarting the car several times and waiting for 1 to 5 minutes I am able to move the shift form P to D. looks like it is happening more and more often. I checked transmission fluid - all good, nice red color and not stinky and level is just fine.
Anyone with an idea what the cause can be?

thanks Bobby, not sure if it clicks due to my loss of hearing. You pointed out there is a the brake switch or shift lock. I went to look above the pedal and found the switch and adjusted it.
Not sure if this makes a difference because it did not always got stuck. But now it is unlocked and I cross my fingers it will stay this way.

Normally, if the brake light switch is faualty, your brake... stop lights won't be operating. In addition, that same switch ties into your cruise control system.

You can always manually release the shift lock, see below.

If the solenoid turns out bad - your posted images are the way to go for me....
