Firstly I saw another thread that mentioned reverse noise and clunking with backing up in reverse when the engine is warm. This leads me to post this asking is there a fix. For my car it occasionally is tough to put in reverse even on level ground. As well as only in reverse on tight turns I get a loud clunk of sorts. It does not do it in forwards and doesn't do it in FWD drive mode either. Notably as well is around 30 to 50mph a whirring noise has developed and does vary pitch based on speed.
Could it be a bad center Differential? Looking under the car I checked the carrier bearing and driveshaft for play and was able to get around a centimeter of play from the center joint. Does anyone have experience with thoses being bad and the signs?
