What I AM seeing is an opportunity to take all the part numbers, put together a wholesale package price for interested parties, and fill the needs. I'll be all over it Monday morning after I get finished with my Monday morning chore list and a few other things at work.

By Monday evening, I'll have a package price worked out and then it'll simply be shipping quotes to interested parties.
are you going to be including the knowledge of how to disassemble and reassemble an automatic transmission in that offer :mob:

I would do it for locals ...but I'm not a vendor here....just sharing what I have figured out.............

so to touch on one of my earlier questions... are these parts the same as what is in a WRX 4EAT, or are these parts that are for newer/other market foresters? I don't know that it matters, but I was just wondering.

if you want to know you can go to a dealer and get the part numbers for the WRX and compare...that is how I put this one together only I looked up the parts for a FXT w/VDC

cool that answers my question for the most part. I was just wondering if there was a difference between the two. Mostly I just wanted to know if these were parts for the Forester specifically.

I'm sorry but i'm still a little confused here... Does this job require the center diff out of a 4EAT wrx? Or does it require the center diff out of a 5spd FXT? Or am i totally wrong here?

The vtd center diff is in the 2007 or 2008 Forester Sports models, and the WRX limited with automatic transmission.

are you trying to source the parts used ?

maybe I would make sure before purchasing those...however, I mated the VTD to a 2002 legacy transmission before I installed so there is a good probability that the WRX 4EAT would be compatible

a6n6d6y,

how long did the whole swap (removal, disassembly, re-assembly, installation) take you? I just got back from talking with the guys at my preferred shop (LIC Motorsports); they said they can do the work for me, but weren't sure how many hours to quote for the whole job. Also, what exactly is the shop press needed for? They have a machine shop on hand, but again, need specifics to obtain a quote.

TIA

too long, and frankly I don't know, I was in the garage for a few hours a day for a week, but I was meticulous as I had never done it before...however once the diff is assembled it should be less than 2 hours under the car for installation..probley closer to one hour if they have experience with the subys

the dealer shop manual should be of some help R&R of the "extension case" should give a good idea

the press is needed for bearing installation plus a specialty tool to compress the return spring on the clutch piston

here's the tool I made, it was a side diff retainer(where the front drive axle goes into the transmission)

a problem....finally

Well winter weather made taking the FWD fuse out a plus (the front tires were spinning in the rain)

but when I get on it in first gear it triggers the flashing AWD light....the "it thinks the tires are of different sizes" thing...

a new TCU out of a VDC vehicle is ~$500 and I don't KNOW that it would work, I think the wire to that light is going to get cut

but beside the flashing light it works great...4 wheel drifting in the rain :woohoo:
