yes, if you are curious save the diagram and parts list and you can match up most of the stuff ...some of the numbers don't line up well ..the "G" parts start with "806" on the list then the number on the diagram, a little confusing but doable
Well odds are i'm gonna let IPT figure it out because the 4eat is far beyond my and many of my friends technical know-how. Glad to hear it just bolted right in with no issues, that should make it a quick job for IPT.

I also had 1 more question andy, how's it feel to wake up in the morning and piss excellence?

I made Ty aware of this mod and where to find it...they may be able to take the Diff off another trans instead of buying the parts new..???
Yea i'm assuming they'll be able to source me the used parts for alot less money, now the question is if they want to give it a shot.

I'm sorry but i'm still a little confused here... Does this job require the center diff out of a 4EAT wrx? Or does it require the center diff out of a 5spd FXT? Or am i totally wrong here?

You could do the MPT lock-up switch :p. If you follow the exact directions on the 25RS forums, instead of locking the clutchpack, it unlocks it on our cars without any lights or codes, maybe a valid option.

You guys are going to like this!

Thanks to funkymonkey1002 for suggesting that I try a baja with sportshift tcm. I stayed late at work to do some stuff to my suspension, and decided to plug the Baja TCM in and see what DTC's I would get.

I was expecting the turbine speed sensor to throw a code, because there is a ground wire for that sensor that goes to the Baja TCM according to the wiring diagram, and my car does not have that ground wire to my original TCM.

So, I plugged it in, removed the AWD fuse, checked for codes, none... started the car(fingers crossed), no lights on the dash, no DTC's stored, checked the current live data using the ssm3, everything seems to be reading right. Put it in Drive, and the wheels speeds are close enough not to make the AT light or check engine light come on:woohoo:

Drove it home with no problems, 25mi later. No lights on in the dash, no abnormal driving behaviors, I would have to say at this point that it is plug and play. You can see on the pictures of the ssm3 screen, that the sport shift controls also show up in the data log, very cool. I will be trying to get that to work as well in the next few weeks.

I did lose the gear indicator in the instrument cluster as there is a communication wire between the cluster and the TCM in my original wiring harness, that now goes to something else in the Baja TCM. No biggie, a Baja cluster may fix that, would have to check the wiring diagrams to see if anything would need to be changed.

Also the transfer duty cycle changes normally during accleration, and it seems to take off, and shift better now as well(Although that could be in my head). When the track opens back up, I should be able to tell.

Before with the AWD fuse in the transfer duty was at 0 unless I pressed the switch I had installed and then it went to 100%

So far so good!

As for the high res pics, I will try to get some of those soon. I also want to open up my original TCM, I half-expect it to be very similar. I was able to get some numbers off the big chip: 64F7055F40

Which leads me to believe that it is a SH7055 chip, which could be a good thing because the earlier WRX ECM's used that chip, I believe. I googled the number and it came up with a bunch of threads.

Will update in a few days after I get some more miles on it.

GREAT WORK! Now if the Baja TCM w/sport shift is plug & play, does that mean with the properly gated shifter you could shift through the gears manually and make it hold specific gears?

Well, my big attraction to this is being able to Hold 3rd gear longer for a proper dyno pull instead of using 2nd gear, i'm wondering if a Baja sportshift TCU would make this possible.

I had a chance last evening to take the Foz for a "spirited spin" and get my foot into it a little - the difference between the old MPT transfer case and the VTD is remarkable!

The car feels very different when getting on the go-pedal; with the MPT, I would always get some torque steer and the front would get a little loose (often with tire squeal) before the MPT transferred some of the torque to the rear. With the VTD, that is completely gone! It feels so much different that I thought something was up with the engine, but that is not the case - the Foz just pulls hard immediately without any front end drama.

I currently have the FWD fuse in place, which with the VTD simply makes the TCU ignore the erroneous rear shaft speed sensor but causes the AWD light to illuminate on the dash. Even with the fuse installed and the VTD clutch pack disabled, the continuous mechanical 45/55 F/R split makes the car feel so much better. I do plan on investigating if the TCU from the Forester Sports can be used without causing any other issues and if so, I will install one of those so I can pull the fuse and let the TCU control the clutch pack.

Now I need to get on some of those NH unimproved back roads and see how the VTD with the VLSD rear behaves on dirt and gravel!
Interested to know about the TCU, I've got an 07 VTD transmission waiting for me to put my forester back together and it'd be nice if i could just swap in a TCU that would take full advantage of the VTD.
