I have purchased a salvaged 2005 Forester with 103K miles and minor front end damage and transplanted its nearly identical EJ253 (2.5l non-turbo) engine into my 2005 Outback with 210K miles. Before scrapping the shell of the Forester, I removed and saved the AT and a lot of other mechanical parts that I might need in the future.

Searching this forum and the internet, I have not been able to determine if the transmissions are actually compatible:
Outback Transmission Type - TZ1B7LCACA
Forester Transmission Type - TZ1B5LCXAA

Does anybody know if they are (or not) or any resource that might provide that information? Local dealer is not helpful..
