2003 Forester WRX Swap

Long time lurker, first time poster. Hoping for some advice and assistance...
I own a bit of Frankenstein-ish 2004 Forester: has JDM WRX engine, trans and drive train swap, STI shocks/struts and sway bars. It sits rather low and tucked obviously, and im looking to switch to a more stock, then eventually to a lifted height. I'm just wanting to be able to get a little loose on back roads etc.

I'm new to the offroad scene, learning as I go, I've done some research but still not sure, and I'm hoping someone can guide me in the right direction.

Because my budget isn't huge, and the current STI shocks/struts are in near-new condition. I was planning on buying a 2" front 2 3/8" rear lift spacers kit:
2003-2008 Subaru Forester 2

my thinking is the 2" / 2 3/8" spacers will bring the ride height back to near-normal range, and I can then get a feel, and either upgrade my springs, or complete strut/spring assembly later and go full 2" lift once I decide what route I'd like to go.

Does this logic hold up, or not reasonable?

I appreciate any assistance anyone is able to provide. Like I said, this is all new to me lol
