I just picked up a 2001 Forester l 5 speed. It seemed loud inside cabin today so I looked under dashboard and behind brake pedal there is a round hole. It looks like there is a rubber gromet missing or something was there. There is a wire going through but no wonder it was loud in cabin. Also where sterring column goes into floor board there is a space that I believe should be plugged up with either rubber or some large washer. If anyone knows what parts are missing I would appreciate it. If someone can peak and advise.. Thanks in advance...

Sounds like you are missing a body plug or two. I looked around the parts catalog but couldn't find the one on the toe board, but there probably is one. If this link works, it's part #25 for the one behind the pedal:

You may need the dealer to look them up as I couldn't find the one, as I said, and they can be difficult to locate on these diagrams unless you are proficient in the catalog.
