I am removing some bad condition, seized, ebay coilovers from my 2001 Forester. I tried to re-install oem 2001 Forester struts. However, I am unable to get the struts (for the front at least) to sit into the lower-axle mounting area or whatever. The 3 top hat bolts can mount and be tightened in place but once i do that, i can not get the lower portion of the strut to line up to the two mounting holes behind the brake. The axle/brake needs to be pushed downward and i cant get it close at all. Is there something i can loosen around the axle area to get it to push down into the lower strut mount? Because almost standing on the brakes and using my legs to try and shove it on in isnt working lol.

Just a guess, not having seen your suspension(pic?): your LCA is binding on the front bushing where it pivots, and that if you loosened it(support it underneathe) things would work out.
