There have been a few recent threads about whether or not to change a timing belt based on age (not mileage). My 01Forester has only 36k miles, but has lived in northern climates its entire life (New Jersey, New York, Illinois). Would 10 years of these temperature extremes be more harsh to the timing belt than lets say a southern climate?
My local dealer is running a timing belt and tentioner replacement "special" for $725, and I am thinking of just having them do it....
Thoughts?
Thanks!!!
