2.5i-S Gear Shifting Loud Clicking

Just purchased and took home my first Subaru last week.
It's a Forester 2.5i-S with CVT. 4 Months old, dealer demo with 3100 km on the clock.

Drove it for a week with my windows up because of incessant rain in Sydney. Yesterday was a beautiful day and I had the windows down. I then heard a really loud clicking noise on the outside of the car when I moved the transmission stick from D to P. I've now noticed that same clicking (but slightly softer) when moving from D to R, R to D and a loud clicking noise when shifting from R to P.

There is no clicking when I shift to N though.

This was inaudible in the car when you have the windows up, but with the windows down, the sound is quite noticeable.

This morning I heard the clicking sound at a cold start (P to R - I've always waited for about 45 seconds after starting before shifting) and even after if I drove 25 minutes to work.

Any other Forester owners experiencing the same clicking noise? I am parking on relatively flat surfaces most of the time.

Planning to call the dealership service and see if they can take a look at it. Still under warranty.

Just purchased a new 2019 Forester and i get a clicking sound from R to P, and yes it can be loud at times. I also was concerned about it. I asked google and the only thing i can find is the parking pawl. Is the parking pawl damaged or is that normal, I don't know.
The parking pawls are loud. Especially when shifting quickly to P. I have noticed if I shift to P slowly, the pawls do not click nearly as loud.
Thanks. will get it checked at the dealer service. Could be nothing.

On another note, is it normal to feel a slight jerk when moving the shifter from R to D and vice-versa?

Have you figured out if this is normal?
same issue on my 2019 Forrester. brand new with only 200 miles.
hearing a loud clicking noise from R to D. only audible if you roll the windows down
