2 days ago i parked my forester and when i wanted to start it again it just cranked but wouldn't start. The Mechanic said the fuel pump was dead. We changed the pump and the car started. I switched it off a few times but every time it started. However, after about 4 hrs of being parked, i tried to start it and it just cranked. I can't hear the fuel pump usual whining noise. Further i connected the "dead" pump we removed directly to the battery and it ran. So I know it's definitely not the pump. What could be the problem here? please help.

Fuel pump relay, or a connection that was remade when the pump was changed and gone bad again would seem most likely?
