Hey all !
I recently bought a '99 Forester (yes I know its old but she is in amazing condition) and I want to use it as my daily driver, and weekend camping vehicle with my pup. When I purchased the vehicle I was told the shifter bushings are original and kind of worn in. I was looking to change them, but I thought of potentially just changing the whole assembly since these old manuals are sloppy, but have no idea where to start.
I am also looking to just install a new clutch while I'm down there since I have no idea how old it is as well or perhaps I will pay someone to do that part. It's still got life in it, but it feels kind of old. I don't plan to do any insane rock crawling or anything, but I want it to still be able to go off the beaten path, and be reliable.
What would you all recommend for something that will allow for daily drivability and light off-roading?
** Side question here. Are bushings and a new shifter easy enough for someone who has access to tools and a garage to do? I want to use this vehicle as my learning project as well, and I would like to be able to repair things if they break down on the road.
