I'm curious, since I see many Subie owners jump ship arund the 100k mile mark... How many original owners (i.e. people who bought their Foz new and have not sold or passed it on to other family members) do we have in the high mileage club?

I bought Subed in September 2003 and so far we've clocked 143k miles.

Me and my dad got the XT around october of 03? i believe. ~135,000 miles since then! It was mostly his car for the first year or two, racking up a little over 30,000 miles as I was in highschool and didn't need a car much. Have had it since 05 when I went away to college and have racked up about 100,000 miles since then. Couldn't think of a better car to have had over that time!

I bought my 1998 Forester when they first came out in July 1997. I had it up until last week. I put 133K miles on it. I traded it in on a new 2010 Forester.
The head gasket was going again. I am not sure if it was the same side that I had replaced about 5 years ago. That was the one bad thing about those engines in the early Foresters. I loved the car but I figured it was time for a new one.

I bought mine in Dec 2001 (02 Yr) and now I have about 133,000 on it. What kind of repairs have you have to do?

Having the head gasket replaced was the one major repair that I had to do. At that time I also had the timing belt replaced. In the 13 years that I owned the car I replaced one headlight and a couple of directional bulbs, replaced the brakes a couple of times, 2 new sets of tires (I recently replaced them) and changed the battery once. I never did any repairs to the exhaust system.

All of 149K ..... and a timing belt mishap a few months back ...... has to last while the kids get through college, at least another 5 years.

At the rate it's going, it should make it. My highest mileage from a Subaru to date was MY90 Legacy LS wagon ...... 189K when it was totaled in an accident in 1996. If that didn't happen, I think I 'might' still have that car.

If my business needs hadn't changed, I wouldn't have traded my '04 FXT a couple of weeks ago for the 3.6R Outback. I bought the XT 12/03 & it provided 126k trouble free miles...only my '71 Datsun 510 2Dr & current '00 Isuzu Trooper 4wd have come close... The Outback is trying to decide if it wants to take up permanent residence since it's already made 4 trips to 2 dealers in the past 2 weeks.

My stepmom bought my (infamous) '00 OBW new in 2000, and it just turned 153k today on I-70 in Kansas. Made the 1400 mile roundtrip without a hiccup, and managed to turn some decent (30+)mpg on a couple tankfulls.

Our Forester was purchased new as well, and has been trouble free for 155k now.
