Just a quick question to BlueConnect users, do any of you have aftermarket head units? If so, does it mute the sound when you take a call?

I've just about got my wife convinced to let me put a Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD in the Forester, but she really, really likes the way the BlueConnect works, and I just want to make sure it would work the same way.

I'm wondering the same thing as well. Since it has it's own speakers, will it work with an aftermarket head unit?

I know it won't display anything...but I imagine the muting should still work.

I just bought a new JVC KW-AV50 and the one thing I sacrificed was bluetooth...and if BlueConnect will work with another head unit...I'm golden.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, it will work. The BlueConnect module connects to the mute wire on a HU (OEM or aftermarket).

If your aftermarket HU has an optional BT module, you might be happier using that -- you'll usually get better control and display on the HU, and better sound through the car's speakers. You can sell the OEM BlueConnect module to make back the cost (and fill the empty space with an OEM pocket).
