I am looking for my first Forester and have found an 05 SX with just under 25,000 miles. My question is whether it is possible to drive a car too little? The seller, a small single guy operation, says he got it from a dealer where it was traded in by a couple in their 80s who were persuaded to go from a manual to an automatic. I'll ask to see the service records and if he doesn't have them, run a Carfax ... at least I'll be able to verify the one owner claim and hopefully figure out if it has been driven regularly. Would issues like timing belt, head gasket, etc., arise any earlier just because of age? Also, this is a Vermont car, which tend to suffer from rust problems. The seller let me drive it home last night and I put close to 40 miles on it, city, highway and mud road, and it seems fine. Any opinions and/or advice welcome.
Thank you.
