  1. ('19+) 2019 - 60" cross bars - anyone try this?

    Utility and Protection
Not specific to any vehicle but I've had long bars on roofs. Only negative was the potential for head bumps (OW!) or worse if you are tall , eye gouges. Something bright and/or soft on the ends helps. Upside is more room for toys. GD
  2. ('19+) 2019 - Any thoughts on a larger sway bar?

    Suspension and Handling
You might be referring to my statement about high speed curves. What I meant by that is legal speeds on mountain highways and freeways. I only did the rear because I wanted to induce a less understeering situation when cornering. I like the cornering balance better than with OEM but am...
  3. ('03-'05) 2003 X - Rough ride with newish Douglas tires and Excel-G struts?

    Suspension and Handling
How "newish" are the tires? What you are describing is similar to what happens when tread wears. Less rubber, less cushioning effect. Some tires rely on the tread cushioning to absorb some shock, others rely more on tire construction. I tend to think that higher quality tires rely on tire...
  4. ('01-'02) 2001 - Alternator that can handle [email protected]?

    Lighting and Electrical
Nice thing about LEDs is there are no "bulbs" to change, nor a need to change them if quality is good.
  5. ('14-'18) 2014 - rear suspension low? - SOLVED!

    Suspension and Handling
Hope they installed both rear springs. This is always advisable since they are carefully calibrated and matched at the factory; or not;)
  6. ('09-'13) 2009 - Sway bar bushings - which way does the blue dot face?

    Suspension and Handling
@bonnevillebill I think that dot is just a color code for the bushing diameter
  7. ('19+) 2019 - Any thoughts on a larger sway bar?

    Suspension and Handling
So, my advice is sage but now I only date my wife:)
  8. ('19+) 2019 - Any thoughts on a larger sway bar?

    Suspension and Handling
I can't offer advice on fitment, just concept. We went from OEM 18mm to 19mm on our '15 2.5i Limited: just one millimeter. Even my wife noticed improved stability on high speed sweeping curves and she is not an enthusiastic driver. Sometimes I wish for more on paved roads but on dirt back...
  9. ('01-'02) 2001 - Alternator that can handle [email protected]?

    Lighting and Electrical
Did you consider that it might be more cost effective to switch to LED lights rather than doing the alternator upgrade? IMHO I can't see buying new lights with old and inefficient technology. GD
  10. ('19+) 2019 - Comfort of drivers seat

    Interior and Electronics
I think you kind of hit the nail on the head kobai-iro. Daily drivers and soccer Mom vehicles tend to be fitted with seats that one sits "on" rather than "in". Leather is even more "on" than fabric. The problem with thick pads is that they place you higher and therefor the side bolsters...
  11. New NA OEM Sub-Forum suggestion

    Community Help
I value the car hobbyist posts for more obscure information but often get frustrated wading through so many posts related to XTs, part swapping, after marked mods and other things to make a forester something other than originaly intended. A sub-forum dedicated to naturally aspirated foresters...
  12. ('01-'02) Better fog lights available?

    Lighting and Electrical
Yes. Check out Diode Dynamics (DD). Almost ANY fog lights would be better than OEM on the 15's. DD offers a replacement LED for the anemic halogen bulb or you can get the whole fixture. I got the Morimotos and like them.
  13. ('09-'13) Top Engine Cleaning - details?

    Problems, Maintenance, and Warranty
Where does the contamination come from I used to think that the "valve washing" concept made sense until I realized that there is no source of contamination upstream of the valves unless the valve seals are shot or something else is not functioning correctly. Even in some older engines with...
  14. ('19+) 2019 OEM or Aftermarket Hitch?

    Towing and Hauling
Wow! The 2019 eco hitch version looks easier to install than the 2014-18 version. Also way better than the OEM. GD
  15. ('14-'18) Are Yakima, Thule, etc. carriers compatible with the Subaru OEM racks?

    Towing and Hauling
#^!* Rubber piece I lost exactly the same piece at the same location. This part falls out easily and therefor is not replaceable unless one buys the whole crossbar set. You can get the tightening screws at most good hardware stores so they are available as an OEM replacement part. Given...
