Yes, you must remove the headers to remove the oil pan. It's really not that difficult to undo the oil pan once you have the headers off.

Tight budgets don't work well with hybrid motor builds. Ask me why, because I'm going through that right now.

Your best option is to find a drop-in 2.5 so you don't have to mess with wiring.

You'd have to completely swap the wiring harness. It's a bolt in, but a LOT of work and probably not worth it. Your resale value will plummet.
