All Subaru's have had fairly thin sheet metal (it allows the car to be lighter), the paint (at least with the darker colors) seem to scratch, but no more than other paint on other newer cars IMO....

It's the relay turning the wiper on and off while you are on the intermittent setting. I guess you can say it "ticks" on and "tocks" off. Same goes for your headlamps, you should hear a "tick" for it...
