Since you are not removing the motor, just do as Quadrozontal said and remove the 2 nuts holding the motor mounts to the x-member and the dogbone and you'll have plenty of room.

I would first think it's a bent rim. If not though, it could be something in the bearing/hub area. Next possibility is that you damaged the differential. Was the blowout in the front or rear?

Welcome to our forum. The core support is indeed welded in, but it is not much of a structural member. I cut mine completely out, welded on flanges, and made it a bolt-in unit when I did my H6 swap.
