I never see my lighted taillights so I don't care if they are or aren't appealing. I do care that those who could potentially hit me from behind see my taillights. I would never disable nor diminish any light that lets following cars know I'm there. That lower light might make the difference between being seen or not seen in adverse conditions (heavy rain, fog, etc). And if you get rear-ended and the other driver can show that you disabled lights that could end badly for you.

mike_n Why would you disable part of the taillights? Is that even legal?

LED'd my eyebrows. Worthless in the day, pretty cool in the dusk

86'd my snorkus. Not sure what I think yet, it pretty much just makes a wind noise all the time now.

Hamel Replaced the Line Pressure and 2-4 Brake Timing solenoids in the transmission. It didn't fix the problem so back under I go tomorrow to replace the 2-4 Brake Duty solenoid and hit the rest with 12v to make sure they're working.

Also pulled the timing belt and cover trying to hunt down an oil leak. After deciding it's probably the oil pump seal I put everything back and am taking her to a shop.

mk2ja Got a dash cam system installed!

Went with the BlackVue DR650GW-2CH with Power Magic Pro. Took a few days to nail down the right fuses for constant- and switched-power, but I got everything working right now!

Here's the journal entry.
