    Hi Dave,
sorry but in this case my 'reputation' exceeds my knowledge. I haven't actually had a look at the PCV valve position. Note also mine is/was a 2010 and possibly considerably different to the newer ones.

I'm also separated from my wife who has the car so can't go look.

r5oss would be the one to talk to I suspect (how's that for a hospital pass) as he's written about and pulled apart these sort of things inc the EGR system- see this post.

All I can say is that I would guess it is likely that with the boxer setup, there will be a breather going from somewhere near the crankcase to both valve covers then to the intake manifold. As the crankcase is in the middle with the valve covers on the outside it would be almost the opposite of what you'd expect.

    Patrick.

Sorry I can't help more than that. Do let us know through the forum how you go though!

    Hi,
I am in melbourne australia and i want to fit a catch can to my daughters 2016 Subaru outback turbo diesel an it was mentioned that you would be the one to talk to, i have the can but am not familiar with where the pcv valve is on a boxer engine and was wondering if you would be able to educate me with photos if possible as to how its done.
    Thanks in advance
    Dave
