My first Subaru AND my first hit-and-run.....car full of hillbillies rear-ended me and trashed my bike rack and rear wiper pivot cover plus scratching up the rear Subaru logo badge...threw their car into reverse and escaped through a shopping center parking lot...
Merry Christmas, white trash ! I got your tag number and now so do the police.... |

WOW....what a bummer! I know the feeling...I t-boned a girl who tried to cross over three lanes of traffic and later found out she had no insurance and neither did her mother (the legal owner of the vehicle). My insurance covered the damages (+$2k) and went after her with no luck. Now the claim is in collections. I did file a SR1 at DMV so at least they'll pull her driver's license for a few yrs! Really annoying how we pay for insurance and then you get these idiots driving around with no insurance. I hope they catch your guy! |

A car behind me got creamed at an intersection. Idiot ran but we got his plate. I never heard what happened.
I'm interested to see how this plays out. Everyone is okay and the damage is minor, that's all that matters. |

You're correct....the important thing is that my son and I are ok...hard to understand someone so cowardly that they could leave an accident scene they caused without checking on possible injuries...and be man enough to admit they screwed up and take the consequences...
I hope I can get the wiper pivot cover piece without buying a whole new assembly.... Thanks for the kind words ! |

I never understood hit and run. Sure, there's a chance you might get away, but majority of the time, especially in this day and age where we all have cell phones armed with cameras, someone will most likely have seen you.
For anyone who is caught driving with no insurance, they should do an automatic impound of the vehicle for 2 months, and the only way you can pick up your car is showing proof of insurance. Then you will be required to check in at the DMV office or online to continue to prove you have insurance for a year. I, too, am tired of paying insurance to cover these idiots. |

My cousin was a victim of a hit and run a few years back. It was late at night on a low-traveled state route, the driver was very drunk and plowed right into my cousin's car. He ended up driving his crippled vehicle home while my cousin was trying to get herself out of the car. If it weren't for the drunk's wife, my cousin would have had a hard time identifying the vehicle/driver. |

Not a fun experience... :(
My buddy just went through the same thing with his brand new MINI Cooper. Someone who picked up food from his restaurant backed into it, and then sped off. Luckily, he'd gotten his phone number, and the police tracked him down today. So it was, all in all, a happy ending. Getting a new bumper and driving light still sucks on a 6 month old car, though. Hope the police have the same luck finding your H'nR perpetrator! |

I was in a hit and run years ago, we were both doing 40 and the guy swerved and caught me head on with his Jeep Grand Cherokee. Luckily I was in my '87 Monte Carlo so I wasn't hurt. Couldn't get out of the car quick enough to get his plate number when I realized he was turning around to run for it. Finally got out the passenger side of the car since the driver door wouldn't open and found the entire front end of the Jeep on the ground with the license plate still attached. The cop actually laughed when I showed it to him.
Needless to say the guy got nailed with hit and run, no insurance (GF's car), no license, a warrant out for his arrest and he had just left the bar. I can't really blame him for running I guess. The GF reported the car stolen and they later found it in their garage so I believe she got hit with insurance fraud. In the end karma definitely caught up with them.

i caused a hit and run.. sort of. guy in front of me locked up his brakes, and i didn't stop in time. hit him pretty good from behind.
odd thing is, he must've had some kind of legal issue, because HE ran from the scene. Cops show up and i explain what happened.. they said he commited a felony by leaving the scene and i should just contact my insurance company. no ticket issued. go figure. glad to hear you are ok, and the damage is minor. now you've got some "street cred" |

I got rear ended while driving a Toyota truck with a custom rear bumper with a hitch sticking out of it. The other guy was driving an older Nissan Pathfinder. I was slowing to make a left turn and he ran into me. Hit me hard enough to push me past the street I was trying to turn onto. He drove around me and took off. I followed him while I called 911, though I did have to keep my distance because of all the coolant and other fluids that were spraying out of the gaping hole in the front of his vehicle. The cop laughed when he asked if I was ok, and I said "no, He scratched the paint on my bumper"
