So today most of you guys know Dallas was hit with a ice/snow storm and literally everyone in Dallas does not know how to drive... I was minding my business driving on the far left lane and out of no where a gold Toyota Sequoia on the far right lane lost control and crossed 3 lane of traffic and T-bone the front right side of my '15 XT, she then bounced off and hit my rear quarter panel... NOT! even half a second another GREY TOYOTA Sequoia rear ended me at a pretty fast speed... So I'm really really sad cause I just got a new set of wheels and the vehicle is paid off...
Front right damage
rear quarter
rear trunk area got pushed up dramatically
the Grey Sequoia that rear ended me
I wasn't able to take photo of the gold sequoia but I did get everyone's Phone number, DL #, insurance, and phone #, I'm waiting for the police report. The officer even said it wasn't my fault and I just happen to be in the middle of it... I'm really bummed out and not even sure if the vehicle is totaled or able to be repair with the damage is mostly in the back
Wow, I was feeling bad cuz my 2015 was broken into while at a hotel in Las Vegas a couple weeks ago. It was only a week old at the time. Thanks for the perspective and my condolences on the accident.
I live in Frisco and work in Dallas. Preston Rd was an hour n thirty minute adventure. My 2015 Forester handled like a champ. But I saw many other brands that did not. So sorry to hear you were a victim of others poor handling. On a lighter note, so impressive that your 2015 Forester is already paid off
Sorry for your mishap, that sucks! I live in Dallas and it has been an interesting week! My first snow/ice event with my forester and I was very impressed with how it handled and loved the snow! But I didn't meet any sequoia's!
Glad your okay!!! Question....anyone.... Aside from an obvious safety drivability issue that cannot be fixed.... What % vehicle damage cost to new cost would be considered a total??
Do you think the trailer hitch impact lifted the rear cargo area? Kinda looks that way. I'm thinking the rear impact (visual damage) would have been much worse if it hadn't been for the trailer hitch.
Given how new your car is, I'm hoping your insurance will replace it with a new model.
I really hope their insurance take care of me... Since none of this was my fault and I just happen to be in the middle of it.. The State Trooper even said the car behind me was following too close, and that lady who rear ended me even admit she was at fault... and the lady who T bone bone me in the front, her insurance company is kind of iffy, its a small company.
I wouldn't mind a brand new one, but I don't know how it works since the car is paid off... I know the insurance company will try to jip me and not give me the full amount...
Liberty Mutual is OK but I've never heard of Home State County.
The girl who pulled out in front of me had Progressive, and I think they write people who large companies, like State Farm, won't insure. She had very minimal coverage. State Farm paid me quickly (minus my deductible), then went to Progressive to collect their money (they call that "subrogation"), and must have gotten it because my deductible was returned to me by SF a few months later.
Your insurer should take care of you, then they collect from the other companies.
Here's an update, my car is totaled... I went to the dealership today to take off my wheels, my head unit, horns, and DRL LEDs... So now I'm here waiting for the check.
On a more frivolous note, and good to see the Forester safety record is maintained, perhaps this is something built in to Toyotas now? Maybe their jealous of the new family member who while not being "the best built cars in the world" are possibly drawing attention away from the older siblings? Jealousy? Kill the interloper?
The estimated total damage was around $17k, but it would be more if they took it apart and repair it since it has frame damage... The rear frame rails was pushed in pretty hard where the floor pan on the back seat is out of whack... My dealership was able to get a salvage company to buy the vehicle
Went to the dealership the other day to take off the parts on my '15 XT. It was a bitter sweet day... Car has been sitting there after the snowstorm for a little bit over two months and man... that road salt ate up the car pretty well... Under carriage was all rusted out..
This is the very last pic but parting my ways with it...
Looks like that Tribeca has seen better days as well.
