Default Bastards!!! Argh!@#$!#!!!

My Forester is four days old, FOUR DAYS OLD!!!

And today what did I find from the front bumper to the rear quarter on the left side...?

Two HUGE scratches!!!

Whoever did this most likely did it on purpose, as there are two parallel scratches, continuously from front to rear. It's a bit wavy and not too deep, but enough to scratch the outer paint layer. The bottom primer is still there, no metal, but WTF!! Why do people do this? Frigging jealously??? I don't get it...

Now, unfortunately I probably won't have enough time to get it fixed for a week or two! ARGH!!! Today I was balls to the walls busy, tomorrow I take off to Missouri, hopefully I'll get to MO by Friday, then I hope I can find a good body shop that will buff this crap out on Saturday.

OMFG, I was so furious this morning when I saw it, I'm better now, but still get pissed when I think about it. I didn't have time to take any pics of the damage, but I might tomorrow...

ARGH!@#$!#!!!

wow, that sucks, I had a similar thing happen to mine when it was about a week old, I came out of a store and some hag in a mini van had driven her door into the side of my XT with her fat butt leaving her paint on my car. I was pissed. But I have seen enough clueless people bang into cars with doors, skis etc that I wouldnt be suprised if some clueless person just dragged something along the side of your car without thinking.

The best one was i was at a ski area and came down to my car an this guy was in a mini van (always bad) trying to get something out from under the seat, I walk up and while hes doing it his boot is constantly kicking my car, he sees me, just turns his head and keeps digging under his seat flailing his foot around. He just ignored the fact he was kicking my car. I got in my car and just floored it in the muddy gravel giving him a good spray. Of course I could have probabably kicked the side of that damn mini van and he would not have cared. Have you ever noticed that almost all mini vans have big scrapes, dents etc on them, those people dont give a crap? Also some of worst drivers out there are in those mini vans

Buying a minivan is the automotive equivalent of being castrated, specially if you're single... A married guy with wife and kids get a break, but still... yeah, I know what you're saying!

Run your nail over the scratches. If you can feel it with your fingernail, you're going to need to have it repainted, sorry.

Good news is it should fall under comprehensive so low deductible and not chargeable to your rates. People are jerks. I see this crap every day.

sorry to hear about your damage. Its always hard to not know how or why something like that has happened. And to know the person that did has no remorse or judgement.

When I bought my Forester the salesman made two 2 inch scratches walking around my car with the license plate in his hand. Good luck in future.

I had my 1st two deep scratches less than 24 hours after bringing my 08 home. I was furious. Still pisses me off everytime I wash the car because I can still see the indentations of the scratches.

After two months of having my new 08 XT, someone backed into mine or rubbed up against mine in the parking lot, and scratched the hell out of the back passenger side, and the back right corner bumper -

Luckily, I didn't have to pay a deductible - cost 816 bucks to get a new bumper cover, and paint the right back passenger side, and replace the broken inner bracket.

I'm going to call my insurance company later, at least I have USAA, which is a kick ass company and one of the best benefits of being in the military...

Just this June I had some nasty hail damage done to my Prius (which was one month old at the time), had to replace the hood, gas filler door, and remove tons of dents on roof, fenders, etc, plus replace the left tail light. USAA sent me to a very professional shop in San Jose, CA, who charged $4602 for the repair, but I only had to pay the $500 deductible. I hope this new damage on my new Forester won't raise my premium...

Default My worst fear

of buying a new car and having some jealous degenerate with an entitlement complex vandalize it. My '09 is 5 weeks old now and you should hear all of the harmless but jealous people around me: "Oh, I heard you got a new car!", I say, "Heard from who?". Why is someone talking about me getting a new car. Why should they care?

Funny thing is, this is from people that get a new car every 3-4 years. I had my '01 for 8 years, don't I deserve a new car if I want one?

Anyway, good luck with getting this repaired (however it happened) and looking like new again. Let us know how it turns out.

My 08 FXT is my first New Car - been driving used ones for 20+ years, but finally took the plunge last summer.
After just over a year,
1. Paint scraped off corner of bumper by some jackass in a parking lot (~1 month after I bought the car);
2. nice dent in back door driver's side; (another JA in parking lot)
3. 2 foot long rip in windscreen - stone chip from hell that grew 2 feet overnight (driving on Alberta roads)
4. misc. stone chips in hood (driving on Alberta roads)
5. 1 melted "Freezie" on passenger seat (my fault)
6. euro-plate & frame torn off front bumper (vandal/thief);

It's just a car, and I knew it would eventually get some "character marks", but gee, it smarts every time I see fresh evidence of some dingbat's carelessness around my XT.

Yep,when we buy used,we wonder how some of the 'markings' occurred,but probably the car will look better in two years than when we bought it because it IS used & we tend to keep our stuff nice.Buy new,take super care of it,& watch it deteriorate. I still love NEW,but if my car got scratched that bad,that soon-eeeeEEEEOOOOWWWW!!!!!

about 6 hours after I had bought my brand new 2002 WRX I was making a legal left hand turn and a guy in a GMC pick-up ran the opposing red-light and hit me! I was so pissed. Turned out to be my friends brother and things were handled accordingly, but still, ARGH!

Sorry to hear about your issues.

I made a very slight ding in the paint near the rear driver side door within 45 minutes of buying my 09. (Note to self: keep keys in pocket when reaching for the door handle!)

Did it damage the paint? If not, find a paintless dent repair guy. Probably run you about $75.
