So how many blow motors are we guessing will happen per week? I am not so worried about us FXT people but the nasioc crowd.

my take on this is: there is a thread on nasioc..COBB IS LOCKING YOUR ECU W/APv2 - NASIOC complaining about the latest firmware locking people out of their ecu's i.e. opensource can't read the ROM anymore

so they did this to keep sales of their AP v2s from going to opensource...kind of funny how this technology works

^^ I agree with that.

I am mostly interested in the data logging and data display for now - has anyone found a good place to read up on that? Sorry for the silly questions I really know nothing at all about street tuner / race tuner.

ahh, dan@cobb sent the the fix for it. if you get a wrx 04 map just replace the_WRX_04.exe with FXTM_04.exe on the link.

*note* this is just for the 04 manual xt's

I can't wait for the ride home so I can hook up my laptop to my car and see how things go.

Also it turns out the 50.76 PSI is the largest value allowed in the Boost Targets table!

That's unusable to me. I'm trying to break 2000hp so I need at least 73psi.

I think it's great news. More people will limp-tune the car themselves to be able to do turbo and injector upgrades and still be able to drive the car to a professional to tune it.

cool with the new patch I was up and running last night. I was able to view the dashboard / view live traces / and data log! Sadly, some of the missing parameters did not show up when connected to the ecu - so I will talk to cobb about that.

I am now going to do a car PC setup with my old laptop so I can use the dashboard as a live gauge feature!

No, you don't need a wideband. You can now integrate a wideband into the race tuner. Why would you want to do this? Well the factory sensor can only measure AFR near 14.7 and not to much further away from that. So, your ecu might say 11.7 but you are really running 9.0 (sorry for the bad english). So you don't need one but if you are going to actually tune your car you should have one.

Cool!

Jesse

I found out about this over the weekend (yeah I know I'm behind) and rushed to download/install the new software. Then I find out you can't data log a protuned map. This sucks as this is the only thing that I want to do. I have no desire to blow up my car trying to mess with tuning the car myself, but I would like to take data logs to see how things are doing.

Can someone tell me what I can use to get logs of my protuned map? Oh and does the fact that they released the drivers for the dongle mean you can now use the AP USB/OBD II wires to connect to the computer with the other software???

yeah - this would be nice...because, as I've learned, the term "protune" is somewhat of an oxymoron in certain, incapable hands.
