Well, I decided it was time for a tune so I went down to DBTuned, my local tuner and let Paul tune his first FXT. Lets see, the air temp. was about 90*, elevation here about 250ft.

Mods: Turboxs uppipe, Invidia catless downpipe, Injen SES catback (all 3"), green panel filter and a X02 (ebay) TMIC.

Prior to the tune I was running the Cobb OTS stage 2 map and that baselined at 215whp/236wtq, not too bad for OTS I thought. Anyways Paul was able to get 225whp/247wtq. Boost wise Paul didnt change much, its still at the peak boost from Cobb's OTS map, about 12.5psi max.

I was hoping for more but I guess the little TD04 just ran out of breath.

Oh, and for reference stock STi's put down around 210whp/wtq+- on his dyno.

Heres the graph:

Default TD05H-20G Dyno run in Oz

CAR: 05 XT Manual
TUNER: Paul Fisher @ Pulse Racing (Sydney) using EcuTEK
DYNO TYPE: Dyno Dynamics
DATE & TIME: 19 July 7pm
BEST OUTPUT: 221.3kW (303 HP) on a RWD Dyno....4th gear
BOOST LEVEL: 16psi
MODIFICATIONS: TD05H-20G, MRT CAI, Turbo XS TMIC, GT SPEC headers, Eboost2, 3" MRT Zaust, Walbro pump, P_M Silicon Bits (intake)
extra info
IDC WOT @ Redline: 95%
AFR's: Rock solid @ 11:1

My tuner does not have an AWD Dyno, so he fits a different centre diff that turns the car into full RWD for dyno runs. Other cars that have been tuned this way have shown about 10% lower figure on an AWD Dyno.

The "before" figures are with the TD04 still fitted without the GT SPEC headers.

Doug did this retune for free, even though he still had problems, but was able to get hold of Cobb to get the problems solved.

SuperRu came up to watch the tune and talk to Doug some. Nice to meet him - very nice guy!!

I have a video of the run. If you have probelms with it - let me know.

The mods:
--VF39 (with Crack)
--STI TMIC
--Cobb AP V. 1.0
--Cobb catted DP
--TopSpeed Protune

Doug was very happy with the run. He said he richens up the fuel curve around the torque peak, and leans it slightly as the RPMs come on up. HP is not increased from the previous run, but it is smoother, not as abrupt or violent, and holds power better to redline. However, as I am still not allowed to drive (Dr.s orders from surgery recover), I haven't driven it - my wife drove it, with me grinning in the passenger seat

Boost is 18 PSI tappering to 13-14 at redline. PS - Injectors were running 96% today. Doug says that is normal - and Yes, injectors are the limiting factor for HP on the FXT. To get above about 300 WHP, with a manual, you will need larger injectors.

He also said the 4EAT takes at least 20 HP compared to a manual. During the pulls (Temp 60F, Rel. Humid ~ 60%), the tranny temp stayed about 165F.

How is is that your injects are at 96%??? My 07 is running 20PSI on a TD05-18G 8cm and I am only in the low 90% range. 96 is the highest I have seen, and Im running a lot more air through my motor.

Are 06 injects smaller than 07? Does the auto have smaller injects?

Well, I just strapped my car to the dyno for the first time yesterday. Peak boost of ~14 psi tapering to about 10 at redline, ~110*F intake temps, 0.88 IAM because of the intake temps I'm sure, and on 93 octane I made 196.6awhp on a Dyno Dynamics dyno. Crank hp/tq was 251/~280 which for the heat and all other things considered was pretty stout IMO. It was hot as balls out and it still made the 3rd highest HP/TQ for the day. I'm gonna scan in a couple dyno sheets for you guys here in a second.

For reference, my friend with a FP 3065 on a 4g63 awd DSM put down ~429 awhp on a different dyno and only put down 353 peak on this dyno the same day I dyno'ed my car. I had put a ton of ice on the TMIC and soaked it down prior to the runs to try to keep heat soak down to a minimum. A/F ratio tapered from 13.0:1 down to about 11.1:1 at redline which was good seeing as I had basically no knock despite the incredible heat of the day we were dynoing.

I can't wait to get back when it's much cooler out, with full IAM, and about another 1-2 psi on the wagon....should be nasty.

Relavent power mods: Helix catted 3" dp, WBR 3" midpipe, stock axleback, STI uppipe, STI pill, reflash for 14 psi by myself, K&N drop in filter.

EDIT: Added graphs.

I got my final tunes yesterday. We did a baseline just to see how close the Dyno Dynamics at Engine Logics in Houston was to the Mustang Dyno over at MZM in Austin. It was pretty much a wash or less than 1%. Granted it was different days and dynos but the MZM read 332whp last time I was there and the EL dyno read 334whp. MZM had a very conservative tune on my pump gas map so it was pretty easy for Brad at Engine Logics to get more power. He still kept it somewhat conservative (a/f at 11:1) and managed 355whp with 21psi.
The race gas tune took a while to get as the turbo was pretty much maxing out. It's a Frank 50 with IWG and the standard 2.4" inlet. My modified WRX injectors are flowed to ~810cc and they were at 87% duty cycle as well. We didn't get to boost it up as high as with the top mount and the boost didn't hold super steady but it peaks at 25psi and tapers to 23psi. It was good for 386whp.
The last pic is stock versus my current setup with race gas. You can also look at the very first post in this sticky to see the stock one in a more readable format. Bottom line is stock was 180whp and 208wtq. So it's almost double stock whp on pump and past that on the race gas. Depending on hurricane season and the wonderfully hot and humid Texas weather, I'll try to get to the track for some numbers when I can.

Just for reference, we definitely need to know what type of dyno everyone is putting their cars on. To quote a website in reference to the types of dynos:

Quote:
The Dyno Dynamics is known throughout the industry as being the "heartbreaker" dyno - because it breaks the heart of everyone that thinks he or she has 500 hp at the wheels when he or she really has 435 hp. The Dyno Dynamics dyno reads lower than the Mustang dyno, it reads WAY lower than a Dyno Jet. It also reads WAY lower than a Dynapack.
In my experience this seems to be the case. Anyone else care to comment on the different dynos?

What does a stock STi do on this dyno? I am trying to get a comparo on the HP/TQ changes from '07 to '08. Seems like a little more power for '08 but will have to get more stock '08 dyno readings to get a firm conclusion.

I also just want to say, it rules finally having a car with A) more torque the HP, and B) a flat torque curve from like 3000 rpm on up.

Big change from a 3076r powered 2.0L 4g63.

Oh and in case anyone is wondering, here are a couple dyno vids on youtube of my car that my friend took. Not the greatest videos but still fun to have. =D
