After more driving I can definitely tell a difference and it does drive much better than before. My ECU must have needed to learn a thing or two after the update.

Well, 1 day at stage 1 was cool and I would say worth doing for sure.
My intercooler is off and the VF39 and supporting mods are going in when the sun comes up tomorrow. :)

Yeah, I wasn't impressed with Stg1. I even think it made my Fozzie louder, if that's possible. Either that or the STi exhaust finally broke in (it was a new dealer take off when I bought it).

I noticed my exhaust was a little louder with stage 1 as well. It's about to get a whole lot louder now that I ordered the TBE.

Save yourself the trouble and get a 39. 43s are still cracking (not as often) and the performance is the same.

Actually, skip them both for a used 16G.

hmm, I must be the minoriy because I thought from stock to stage 1 was a much bigger jump than stg1 to stg2.

Now going to the VF39, it is a totally diff animal! BTW, with the AP OTS map, it doesnt start to hit hard until 3100-3300 rpms vs the 2500-2600 with the TD04 (but does pull all the way to redline). I am sure a protune can fix that though.

It hits later because its a larger turbo and takes a bit longer to spool, there is nothing you can do to entirely eliminate that. There are a few things that can minimize it though, obviously a protune helps, as do a few other mods. But you are never going to get it to spool like the TD04 unfortunately.

As for how you perceived your gains VS how others perceive it, every car responds to mods differently, especially when it comes to off the shelf maps. It sounds like the stage 1 map was a GREAT match on your particular car, and the stage 2 map is not as well matched to your car. There is more to it than just what mods you have. 10 cars with identical mods will take 10 different maps to make them run equally.

Curious, with a stage one did people see an Increase , Decrease or same fuel mileage ? I'd be interested in tuning simply to smooth out throttle reponse. That would help me out at the street/track more than "moar power".

Stage one seemed to smooth out the response on my car. It got into boost a bit quicker, but is wasn't the big hit like stock. It was a little more gradual and the car felt easier to drive.

I saw an increase in gas mileage after stage 1...maybe 1-2 mpg. Stage 2 same mileage...VF39 slightly better gas mileage again (prob due to not being in boost as often since I shift ~2500-3000rpm, this is even with heavier wheels and wider tires).

I'd be fine with just the increase in smoothness. I find 1st gear is useless at anything other than casual acceleration. Its way too jerky to floor it on any kind of corner/public road.

I don't think it increases max horsepower that much, but you definitely have that power sooner and smoother, so in lower rpms i believe you are making a nice % more. It really does make it smoother and more "drivable". Good everyday usable power.

Anybody that has done stage 1 and think it sucks, try flashing back to stock and see how your car is, it's night and day...

Default MPG

Stock I was getting 19-20 MPG on average & hit 21 a few times. With Stage 1 I now regularly achieve 20.8 - 21.xx MPG.

Stage 2 to come as soon as the FXT cobb TBE is back in stock at Rally Sport Direct. I guess that now all of us who were waiting so long for the AP to come out are itching to get TBE's.

Anyone on stg1 had any overboost issues yet?

After two days of driving gentlemanly I stomped on her.

Defi controller yelled at me(red light and buzzer), Revs hit redline, time seemed to stop, engine hit a wall(fuel cut I assume), and flashing cruise and cel.

Code P0244 WG solenoid A out of range.

Cleared it, and babied it home.

Scared the crap outta me.

Anyone experience this?

So far only engine mods are K&N drop in, Stg1 flash.
