Hello,
Cobb has the 2009 Forester XT page up. You can see all of the different map notes here: cobb . fxt accessport . map listing
As being part of the Beta testing program, I have tried a few maps and have learned some things. My impressions;
ECONOMY MAP: I did a real-time flash on top of a stage 1 93 octane base map. I did not notice much of a change in mileage, most likely due to the following two things: 1) When you want to run the economy map, to get full benefits, you must flash it as a base map. Because of this, I would only do it when going on long trips with the family, where mileage is King. 2) Trying to get good economy with a huge head-wind and loaded at over 900lbs is not a fair test. I am going to test a round trip to work and back this week (36 miles) and will report the difference in average compared to stage 1 93 octane and to stock.
STAGE 1 91 OCTANE: I noticed a big improvement in how smooth the engine runs, at idle and throughout the rpm range. Peak power gains are not listed as much, but it feels significant. This is because the power is much broader and it seems to pull all the way to redline instead of falling on it's face at 4,500 rpm. It feels more like a turbo car at freeway speeds. I have witnessed peak boost at 14.2 psi....during a 2-3 shift up a slight hill.
STAGE 1 93 OCTANE: This is just a more powerful version of the previous map. Boost hits harder down low and carries more in the mid-range. This is the map I am going to run until I get my down-pipes. I have witnessed peak boost at 14.8 psi....on the same section as above....during a 2-3 shift up a slight hill.
I am impressed with the improvement in performance with the posted power increases on Cobb's sight.:woohoo:
I am trying to set up a dyno appointment for this saturday to compare Stock with the flashed base maps.
Jon
(thanks for putting this in the right spot!)
