Be careful Engine knock & bearing or cracked piston issue

I know it's in my Snail Performance thread. We'll have to wait and see what's going on. It's not a BrenTuning car though.

yup, see comment above. i just happended to be reading these two threads (mainly about tgv deletes, and more folks have them in these two threads then TT one) so it was at the forefront of my head.

itll be shared all over. funny how the issue was brought up though.

either way i shared it in each of the main three tuning threads as it was a protuned car, done on a dyno (so didnt feel it was needed in the cobb general results thread as most of those are just OTS users)....and incase some folks think theres no dangers with just a couple bolt ons. not a "this tuner did this, look out" type warning...more of a "be careful"...like i initially said. ill be sure to make my future posts more thorough when posting in peoples personal threads.

Ahhhhh ok. I'm thinking it's gas or something minor like the last "blown FXT" that was not. Time will tell. It's also hard to know what kind of maintenance people are doing on their cars.

dude, that other XT surely had something let go. not bad gas. trust a video, not a followup post on the internet that basically mentions all is fine, it only did it that time, ive returned the car to stock and traded it in. i dont know how much more info you would need (esp with one in its circumstances, rather then say an 05 with 100k miles).

since were throwing out what were thinking...im thinking there was a lack of oil pressure/flow and something cracked. which is becoming common in FA20 motors in other models.

Yeah, the dealer took back that other XT. I wouldn't know about low pressure because I don't use that worthless paper filter that Subaru recommends (it truly is crap which is why the bypass is set to 27 PSI in it). This is already off subject for this thread, but I get 1-2 MPG more when using Amsoil and their filter compared to the stock oil/filter (same conditions and I drive 80-100 miles per day).

I found my BPV vacuum hose loose and am back to datalogging again. I will soon be posting my files from after installing the TMIC. Glad to be heading in the right direction again. Having crap CA gas and the winter/summer gas blend switch at the stations doesn't help a tuner out.

And didn't replace anything.

Everyone knows the specs of the Subaru OEM oil filter is the ideal choice. Im pretty sure they spent more time researching it then other companies. Choose that, or a model with the identical specs. Other then that...and ur done. Esp because of the next info.

The second section of my post had:

nothing to do with oil filter choice.
nothing to do with motor oil used.

It has everything to do with the internal oiling design and known problems with FA layout. Since u missed the post:
Element Tuning Competition Engines for Subaru FA20 or FA20DIT | Element Tuning

I wont post in any of these SJ tuning threads any more, as to not muck up the works/cause confusion. Carry on.
