WRX transmission/rear differential in Forester XT?

Blew the 4eat in my stage 2 04 Forester XT (cracked front differential case). Was thinking about swapping to a Manual Trans from a 02-07 WRX. I know the 02 (and maybe 03, cant remember) Manual Transmissions had weaker gears.

The Forester XTs come with 4.44 gears from the factory. The WRXs have 3.90s, right? How would the 2.5L respond to 3.90s in the FXT? Would i just end up breaking it? Lose/gain acceleration over the 4eat? Or should i just try to find another direct control 4eat replacement (difficult)?

Ive done a lot of reading about the wiring, and misc parts required from the swap. If i decide to do the swap all the parts will come from a donor WRX.
Any suggestions?

thanks!

EDIT: appears if the non-turbo 02+ 5 speed foresters actually might have better gearing for acceleration/strength (4.11 Final Drive with same 1st gear ratio as WRX, less stress on transmission gears)? Or is the WRX trans stronger still? I'm not very knowledgeable on the 5MTs, mostly the 4eats because that's what i have.
