Somehow I bought, made it home with, and installed Mobil 1 75w-140 gear oil instead of the 75w-90 as I thought I bought. This went into the rear diff on my 06' forester. I guess I needed more coffee this morning. It wasn't until I was putting the old fluid into the can did I realize my mistake. So the question is, does it really matter??? I guess it could affect fuel economy, but will it damage my rear diff?? What do you guys think? Thanks!
Leaving it in won't do any damage, and probably won't make much of a difference in fuel economy in your climate. I would run it for a while, and see if it makes any difference.
