Default Noob question about changing over auto to standard

This is going to come off a little ignorant and stupid, my apologies. I don't know much at all about car mechanics, but I've decided with the new year to start getting inside my own engine.

I have a 99 Forester that I really like, except its an automatic and I really want a standard. I found a manual transmission for a 99 Legacy Outback on craigslist for $150... my big question is... is it possible for me to use this transmission in my Forester? Also, is it really expensive/difficult/sketchy to do the change over?

Thanks in advance!

It can be done and many have done it. I will preface this with, sell the car, buy one with a 5mt.

You need(off the top of my head):
transmission
matching rear diff
driveshaft
pedal box
some wiring changes
clutch, clutch parts
