Hello,
Great forum. Ive been a keen reader but never had to post before.
I have a 2002 Forester, manual with hi low gears. When the engine is at normal running temp I get crunch as I change up to third gear.
Also when at around 65 - 70 kmh and about 2.5k revs I start to hear a whine from what sounds like the gearbox. It is louder if running up a steep hill and accelerating, it goes away if I take my foot of the gas, but returns if I try to accelerate.
The engine has only done 105,000 KM.
About a month ago the clutch was replaced. They had problems with the clutch pedal sticking half way up when released after fitting it. This problem was fixed.
Any clues on what the noises could be? My local garage is quoting $3000 Australian for a replacement gearbox.
Which we don't have.
Thanks for reading.
Cheers Mark
