Sport shift or selector lock? The 4EAT locks into 1 and 2. 3 gives you 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. D is "3" plus an overdrive 4th. In sport shift I believe it shifts for you when necessary.
Yes, in manual mode it will not allow you to overrun the engine, or lug it. I get lazy when slowing down and just let it downshift when it wants to, and I have on occasion forgotten it was in manual mode when accelerating and it shifted up for me. Note that it will do it at red line, so its pretty noisy!
ok I had mine in manual mode and it wanted to stay in 3rd gear all the way to 20mph without downshifting, I thought it would have downshifted by then from 3rd being a 4eat.
I will just drive in auto mode and manual if really bad weather. thanks for info
