Looking at buying another S Turbo forester for the Mrs. She is after an automatic.
We have found one with FSH and 60k miles on her. Is there any history of autobox problems on the S turbos?? As I have just spent £2000 on fixing our 330D BMW gearbox (common problem) and dont want a repeat of that
The 4EAT is a solid performer. We don't typically see too many failures.
What one must keep in mind is that the 4EAT is basically a 20 year old design. Some think it hunts for gears too much or is slow to downshift. Take some good test drives and play around.
You can cover ground rapidly in the automatic turbo Forester. Granted, it is not as entertaining as a manual, nor as clever as a more modern AT. But with judicious overrriding using the lever and the power button (where fitted) you can keep up with the traffic, and then some.
