Default Preparing the car

Some times dealers don't prepare the car before the customer receives it. Make sure the battery terminal are tight. Seems like a case of "repeat business" to me!

Yeah, check all the basic connections and tighten them. Check to make sure the spark plug wires are pushed all the way in on both ends, etc. Could be something really simple like that. Let us know what you find!

Is it cranking over properly and not starting, or not cranking over properly?

well it cranks but wont progress to a start. had this problem happen 4x already, last one was at the dealer shop when i had the first maintenance done. The attendee noted the problem, had me leave the car overnight for diagnostics, turned out they didnt find anything wrong with the unit. I just hope it wont happen again, it starts up fine now, hope it stays that way.

Have your dealer look for the TSB that is out for this. Has to do with the spacing of the cam sensor

The TSB # is 11-100-11R. My car (based on the serial number) has the revised camshaft sensor plate so should not need to have the camshaft position sensor shimmed but I thought it was worth eliminating as a cause. I took the sensor out and made the measurements as described in the TSB. It was out of specification by 0.25mm (spec is 1.25mm-1.35mm and mine was 1.0mm). It has been two weeks since I shimmed it so I don't want to say that it's fixed, yet, but it has started every time (prior to this it had trouble starting on 4 occasions in two weeks). If my problem never occurs again, it's fixed, but if it happens again, I'll have to look into other parts/systems such as the immobilizer.

Keep in mind that this TSB applies to the 2.5 motor. Is yours a 2.0? I never heard of the 2.0.

I am a mechanic which is why I have done this on my own. I know that there's a good chance if I take it to my dealer they won't experience the problem and a day gets wasted leaving the car and then picking it up at the end of the day.
