Service manual?

Hi!

Just bought a Forester, my first Subaru, and I'm wondering where to find a service manual?

I've found that Haynes got one, but it's for the US models. Is there much difference from the european? I have a 2.0 litre with 158 hp and manual transmission, bought in Norway.

And how difficult is doing maintenance on these cars? (especially the oils and fluids, as it's time for this now) I'm used to do such things myself on my earlier cars.

Hope you can give me som advice

Lightbulb

Welcome to the forum!

The "old" 2.0 liter gas engine was not brought to the U.S., so I'm not sure if we can be of much help from this side of the Pond.

I bought a pdf version of the service manual (US$35) for my 2012 Forester from Subaru's U.S. technical information website. The download process was painful (many sections), but the SM has been very useful.

Servicing the engine oil and filter, the transaxle (front differential and manual transmission combination), and the rear differential is fairly easy to do. Your owner's manual should contain the basic information, otherwise we should be able to help you get what you need.

Example.

Hope this helps!

Cool

Hi there , The Haynes manual is a good manual and gets me by , and my steering wheels on the wrong side so should be more similarities with yours !. They are good cars to work on with good Fuji Heavy industries engineering and easy DIY maintenance . Plenty Subaru forums throughout the world to call on .
