Codes P1410 and P2442

I have a CEL on my 2007 Forester XT. The codes are P1410 and P2442. They refer to "Secondary air injection valve system stuck open".

Has anyone repaired these valves? What is involved? I saw on another forum that the dealer wanted to charge $1200. Arghhh!

Any recommendations? (BTW, I'm not a mechanically savvy guy, but I know enough to take advice.)

Thanks for helping!

A MY07 is fairly new. Is your car still under warranty? If so, it won't hurt to have the dealer look at it. Sounds like it effect emission and would be mandated to be covered under warrantee.

I have the same code! the P1410 that is and its Secondary Air Injection Valve stuck open as mentioned above! You can just delete the valve all together with KSTech block off plates. Then you can use Race Tune to turn all codes related to this system, it injects air into the engine so the Catalitic Converter can warm up faster basically its a way to make emissions better on our cars but its really usless if you are tuning! If you need anything like a map for the Accessport altered just let me know what one you are using and I can alter it! Did you see any smoke from the tail pipe when you had the code appear? Thanks and good luck!
