Don't you know that thin is in? :-) There are probably thousands of people driving around with oil that sheared down to a 20 weight. If you're concerned about the shearing, go with an ester based synthetic and see how that holds up (GC, Motul 300V, Redline, etc.).

Actually, I'm quite happy with 40 sheared to 30.
It's driving around with =20 that scares me.
I'm sure that towing a trailer daily in the heat is also contributing to the shearing.
I guess my point is that I'm satisfied with the M1 product.
What more could I ask for?

Now having said that, Murphy's law dictates that the product will be immediately discontinued.

Just got the results from my most recent lab analysis, with the sample taken at around 62k miles. Still looking good, even though I went longer on the oil change intervals, and Subed has been anything but babied. 8-)

Cool

Anybody have Blackstone results from using Amsoil 5W 30 either for a regular interval or 'extended' drain?

Your lead looks a little high. Blackstone didn't comment on that? Are you using a fuel injector cleaner or are you racing (on a track :-D )?

Terry Dyson is da MAN! Ask him if he would recommend German Castrol. He'll most likely say yes since he analysed the 2004 version molecule by molecule. :-)

You might want to share these results with PDX. I take it you're not running the stock turbo.

My lead values were high but there are also two other varients that could have lead up to this:

1) I think I didn't wait long enough when draining my oil to grab the middle bit of oil for a sample(if you have done this analysis, you know what I am talking about)...I think I may have gotten too much of the first/early oil.

2) I am not quite sure the name of the valve but there is a hose leading to it from the engine that kept getting loose on me which I finally ziptied down to keep it in place. My friend who is a suby mechanic said that boost could be escaping there and the engine would think that it is at a certain boost (when it wasn't) and add more fuel...but I don't really think being too rich would cause lead levels to be high. Here is a pic of the valve:

Okay, so it is the check valve.

That's good that you found the problem. Sometimes I get impatient too. Do I catch it now, do I catch it now ... ?

I haven't had a Dyson done yet. FYI, he posts some over on bitog.

Sorry, that quote was misleading...I was just stating that I remembered what the name of the part was the check valve, not that it was the cause of the increase of lead in my test.

See what Terry says. I wonder if an Auto-RX rinse will get the lead out to make the next uoa more accurate (the lead might still be there even if the problem is resolved)?

You might want to post the uoa over at bitog for the experts' comments. :-)

Well, I gathered from the info I got back stating that I had a "too restrictive air filter causing too much fuel in the oil" that my K&N was dirty. I took a look today and dirty was an understatement. Guess I will be cleaning it every 20K miles instead of 40K miles.
