Hi folks, I haven’t posted in a while but I’ve been lurking here and there :smile2: I hope everyone is having a good summer so far!
So, I need some advice/opinions…
Back in the day I briefly mentioned about some areas showing rust and was hoping it could be managed with touch-up paint, but it looks like that’s not the case (see pics). I also found some new corrosion when I was detailing the Subie this past weekend where the roof rails end :frown2:
I wanted to see if this is a common issue, so I checked my parents’ 2016 Forester and my sister’s 2015 Crosstrek but their cars look great.
My dealership and Subaru in general have always been very good to me, so I expect them to address this corrosion issue appropriately, but I’m not sure what level of service I should receive. For example, should I be happy with them touching up the areas with touch-up paint and calling it a day? Or should I expect them to have a body shop sand down the surface, kill the rust and then re-apply paint professionally (repainting entire body panels if necessary).
Can anyone advise me how to properly handle this and what exactly to tell Subaru to do to fix this situation so that I don’t have to worry about rust again (within reason).
I love Subaru tremendously, but this is the first car out of the five new cars I’ve owned that I ever had to worry about paint. One of them my family had for 15 years that we beat the crap out of, but it never showed signs of rust (Infiniti G20). This Subaru on the other hand is detailed regularly and babied, yet I’m getting paint chips/rust everywhere, even through XPEL ULTIMATE paint protection film on the hood!
Please share your thoughts when you have a second. Thanks for your help!
