I picked up my new 2017 Forsester Limited yesterday at 6:00pm. As I was driving home, I could not give any voice commands. Phone calls would come in and I could hear them, but they could not hear me. I pressed the Starlink Sos button and roadside assistance button but nothing happened. I assumed microphone problem and went back to dealer today.
He said "Glad you came in there is a recall on your vehicle due to not having enough transmission fluid." So they checked that and along with finding out it was a blown fuse in the Starlink system.
I spent the first day with my new vehicle in the service dept.!!!
I am concerned as to what caused the fuse to blow. Is this a sign of future problems?
These things happens to all the brands. Likely just a defective fuse. Though the sales rep and pdi guys should have caught the recall before you rolled off th ed blot with your new baby.
When I got my Baja, I had to return to the service department because the pdi guys messed up and never connected the ac relay when they received it off the truck. We're human and humans make mistakes, so we have to accept that things may go wrong from time to time. It is how the dealership and soa treat you when this happens that makes all the difference.
There was a TSB just released today that deals with the CVT transmission fluid. "WTJ-70 Subaru Product / Campaign Bulletin Service Campaign ¿ Forester CVT Low Fluid Level" Did the dealer say how low was the CVT fluid?

I just checked.
My June build, factory "H" does NOT fall into the CVT low fluid level recall.
What month was your build SBEll and whats the 11th letter in your vin ?
May or may not lead to a clue on the SB.
Considering it's a Japanese brand, you'd think Subaru could walk outside, throw a rock, and hit someone better at handling the interior electronics situation than what they're been faking for years. The bluetooth and mic were total crap on my 14 as well, which I've already replaced with aftermarket. But they've had 3-4 years on the same car to make it better.
^^yup. Our brand new Mercedes C300 with 2k miles on it was in the shop for a week with a chaffed main wire harness. Imagine that?
"Nothing but the best" ! Lol
I feel your pain I've had to make 3 trips to the dealer to fix two problems and just found two areas of rust and peeling paint on a car that is just over a month old. The main reasons I decided to buy a Forester were the reliability and resale value. I'm afraid I now have neither. Who's going to want to buy a car that was already rusting out when it was only a month old?
I don't have access to the details of the TSB. I saw the TSB on techinfo.subaru.com. I called my dealer's service department to check my vin to see if my car was included in the TSB
I consider those just minor issues. Although still a PITA to have to visit the dealer, I hope they corrected the problems and made up for it somehow. You should be good to go now.
Thanks for all the replies. I guess I just wanted reassurance that I did not get a "problem" vehicle. This dealership advertises as the 2016 Dealership of the year in Maryland and stresses their customer service satisfaction. But I am not impressed as to how my problem was handled.
Strange. I didn't receive a recall alert which is suppose to come by E-mail, but when I checked MySubaru it says recall: WTJ70-1 - 2017 Forester CVTF Top Off. I am scheduled for 8:00AM tomorrow at my dealer.
Well, all I can say is that dealers can be good and not so good. When I bought my XTT, the dealer sent me out without three items I had paid for with the car, then installed another one wrong. I turned around and went back and then had to sit for two hours while they fixed it.
Just remember that they are human too and can make mistakes, just like you. It's how they handle them that makes the difference. Not trying to defend them, just keep that in mind when things don't go as planned.
Do you remember what was wrong with your buttons and mic? I have the same issue with my 2017 Forester. When I went to the dealer service center and they had no idea what it was and wanted to charge me an arm and a leg to "explore" (I have no warranty). Any information would be appreciated.
