Default Straight piped stock exhaust

I cut out the resonator amd welded in a stright pipe to join mid pipe pieces. I was also considering a muffler delete. Has anyone done these both??

It will be LOUD. I've seen a few WRXs with straight pipes and it's nuts.

As a test, remove the axleback. It will make cool whistling sounds, but will probably scare you into shutting off the engine.

I have a muffler delete and a dump tip at the axle. Yes, it is loud. There's a video in my member journal linked in my sig. I'll eventually do a resonator delete and weld a better muffler in place of stock.

How will you pass PA emissions test when you go catless? I know in my area you would have a near impossible time passing unless you "know" a guy. Not to mention not having a muffler if you go that route.

Because on subaru ecu's a tuner can force stop check engine lights that would be cause by the catalytic system. Thus you will have no check engine lights. You can also do this without having o2 sensors as well.

The drone is very bad, especially if the tip of the exhaust is under the car and not out past the bumper. 2500 RPM is downright painful, and of course its at 65 MPH that the engine is at 2500 RPM. Do not go on a highway trip with this mod! 70 MPH isn't too bad, engine revs are at 3000 RPM at 70 MPH with the 4EAT. 3000 RPM is the most quiet RPM. Overall, the drone is bad, in the driver's seat it's not as bad, but the passenger seat is literally uninhabitable. Don't do this mod if you ever drive people around.

However, WOT sounds incredible, the roar echoes off the buildings, walls, and other cars around you. I imagine that the turbo spool would sound great too. Also, the rumble sounds great at 1750-2000 RPM under light load, and it rumbles good on a cold start. I bet it sounds great with UEL headers.

I only did this mod because it was cheap and sounds good at WOT. Wouldn't recommend it, really, but it's a personal preference, and I like it. I wonder what open headers would sound like???

Taking out the resonator will almost not be noticeable in any way, going to a straight through muffler is what will give you the headache. I hated it so much that it became one reason for swithing to an EL header. But, I'm probably much older than you.
