Heres a question..
I am very adverse to loud exhaust...both in the car and outside. I drive with my family in the car (wife and 2 kids) and do at least 1 2000+ mile trip a year and I can't begin to tell you how much the droning would quickly wear thin to others in the car. How much can be expected if I start to fiddle with things under the hood but leave the exhaust stock? We are talking no turbo changes..just ecu, maybe a larger tmic and a tune. |

You can leave the stock exhaust (or close to it) and still get good power. Your noise level is going to mostly be disctated by the catback you run.
I have an STi TMIC, a VF39, a Cobb Catted downpipe, a stock midpipe and an STi axelback. I'm making 280whp/312wtq (conservative tune) and my car sounds stock when crusing on the highway. It is very family friendly and my wife has never complained.
