Default Any reccomendations for injectors?

Im going to run a VF48 with a forged internal engine build. I want to replace my injectors but am not sure what brand or size I should go with. Any tips would be great. Thanks.

The real question is, E85 or 93 oct? 750-850cc will be far more than needed on a 48 with 93 oct but if you want to run E85 i'd probably go ahead with 850-1000cc.

93 only. Im not planning on pushing this motor too hard. Any particular brand considered the best or better than oem?

I've got bosch injectors. They need no plug and play adapter like Injector Dynamics but idle great, and easier to tune than Deatch Works. I've had no issues with mine.

Ray sells the 1000cc for 420 I think and keeps em in stock. email him at ray@turbotektuning.com if you want a quick set. He'll get em in the mail asap. They're all about the same price so might as well just get the big ones in case you decide to go bigger later on.

With a vf 48 im sure the stock injectors will be fine, make sure you dont exceed the max duty cycle on them.If memory serves me correctly the oem is 560cc which is more than enuf to run the 48 on 93 octance

I think they'll run out before maxing out a 93 oct tune though. Theyre def usable though. Might have to limit the boost some. I think you would manage 275-290 whp on the stock injectors. Topping the turbo out would be around 325whp according to the turbo list on nasioc.

Of course I'm only speculating, only way to know for sure is try.

What do you consider max duty cycle? What happens when one exceeds this?

I'm running a vf43 with stock injectors, they are now maxed out on 93, but I pretty much have gotten all the power out of the turbo I can.

I think you will be fine with stock injectors with the 48, you'll get decently close to maxing it out with just stock injectors.

Why are you building the engine? any reason? the stock motor can take the vf48

I had a cracked piston so I figured I would do it right and build a good motor. As far as the injectors go at 90K miles I would rather have new and something that will work well with my build. I just got the turbo today and it has enough shaft play in it that you can see the discoloration where it looks like its been contacting the housing. How much play is normal for the IHI turbos? Im trying to figure out if you can rebuild this or not but having a hard time finding a good answer.

A little difference in color where the compressor wheel spins is normal.
(My old TD04)

There's a lot of air friction goin on in there which causes a discoloration. When the oil gets in the bearings it will center up but will have a tiny bit of play with no oil in the unit.

If you can tell it's actually metal on metal scraping, i.e. gouges and scratches that's bad.

Try running a shop vac with the hose on the exhaust side through the uppipe connection hole and see how she spins.

Thats pretty much how the 48 looks. I could see gouges in the housing on my td04. Thats good news.

I am about to get tuned tomorrow for a vf39 and when I asked my tuner about whether or not to step up the injectors, he told me that the stock injectors would be pretty close to 100% if not touching that at some point. It wouldnt hurt to go up a notch at all.

This motor should be safe over 400hp not counting the trans. Im thinking If I can tune it to just over 300hp with the VF48 and have injectors with room to grow later that might be a good idea. Im just not sure how that works with larger injectors and if you can even do that.

Im not even at 50% hardly on my 1000cc on 93. When I go e85 though ill be in the 60-70% range. 850 or 1000 will leave you room to grow. Any bigger than that and it can give you rougher idle depending on the brand and who tunes it.

Its just easier in my opinion to have larger than needed just in case. Esp. since they cost about the same for all sizes. Ill be ok well past my motor's current limit just in case theres a rebuild somewhere in the future.
