My Hella 500 installed pics

Since a few people have PM'ed me asking for pictures of mounting of the Hellas I have, I finally decided to stop being lazy and help some people out.

Now I mounted mine on the brush guard on the front.

I took off the guard, and found that the middle piece comes off. I cut two hole in it, on one top and one on the front face, these are where the bolt connect the bracket. I used 3/4" washers on the insides to hold the bolts in. The bolt that faces the front is now covered by the light.

A closer picture of the brackets off the vehicle. (I bought this from DOHCammin by the way)

If you see, my bracket is longer on the bottom side. Thats what I connected the light to. I ran wires up through my grill and grounded it inside the engine bay somewhere. I bought a fog light switch and ran it to right under the stock fog lamp switch after i drilled out a hole for it to go. I didnt use a relay because I thought I would be able to remember to turn them off when I get out.....lets just say I shoulda used one.

This was a relatively easy install. The longest part was wiring it all up. It now sticks out about an inch past the guard and since I dont hit stuff anymore, it doesnt bother me.

And the bracket works great. I think its 1/8" steel. No light shake even at highway speeds.

Hope this helps anyone out.

Heres a few more pics.

If that brush guard didn't hurt approach angles, I'd definitely do that to mine!

Nice front end. I think the install looks great.

Did that brush guard come with the car or did you buy it? Where would I be able to buy one of those?

It was a stock option. I've seen prices as low as 80 bucks for these new on ebay. Keep an eye out for a great deal. I think MSRP is over 200.

I know this is a very old thread, but I'm now looking to do the same thing to my '98 S model. Are these brackets part of the brush guard?
