Question How do you install the Footwell Illumination Kit (H201SSC000) in the '09 FXT/WRX/STI?

How do you install the Footwell Illumination Kit (H201SSC000) into the '09 FXT/WRX/STI? How does it work? Does it sense the car is in Park or the door is open?

i would go with LEDs as they don't draw much current. for us SGers, i'm thinking about the line for the ignition cylinder light as that comes on whenever the door is open, regardless of the domelight setting.

edit: j spitz? that was posted on the cars101 site? that's not stock for the SHs, is it?

It's a $40 accessory now available from Subaru on the 2009 Forester and Impreza models. The photo is from Cars101.com

I was wondering it is just something that directly plus in under the dash, or there is some wiring that needs to be done. Also, was wondering how it works.

WOOT!

I like!

Keep the thread going.........I want to know these things as well...difficulty level and cost.

This is the first I have seen of these lights. I may be interested if it's a Subaru part and easily installed and reasonably priced.

The Blue Footwell Lighting is a Subaru part, and the part number is: H201SSC000

They also make Red Footwell Lighting, and that part number is: H201SSC100

Here is the 2009 Subaru Impreza Accessory Guide:

alot of times the Subaru genuine accessories are plug and play.... ok, maybe just some of the time. (thinking specifically of the Trailer hitch; the wiring was simple)

Is this the same? would some one w/ limited skills be able to do this?

I think it is "plug and play" but I want to find out for sure before I go about ordering it. I also would like to know how and when it lights up (i.e. does it always light up in Park, only if the eBrake is engaged, only if the headlights are one, etc...).

There seems to be too little detail available, and would like to know what exactly I am ordering before I order it, and if I can do the install myself, or if I feel the dealer should do it (if it is too complex).

Ok, so it is a Subaru part and it's reasonable priced......

Like you I'm interested in ease of installation and how it's set up to operate. I don't think I would like them staying on during the day........or at night while driving.

Hopefully they fade off after the door shuts.

I did this to my 08 with green LEDs. I tapped into the clock's power for when the headlights are on. That way they're on when the lights are on. I even put in a switch under the dash so I can turn them off if I want. It's quite neat to have on at night.

I searched techinfo.subaru.com for the accessory installation pages and couldn't find it listed yet.

I like it too and for 40 bucks I'm in. I would also think it can't be that hard of an install!
